Sikkim Tourism is ready for an exciting chapter of tea tourism and adventure with the advent of TEMI Tea Resort. The TEMI tea project is a joint venture between Bengal’s Priya Entertainments Pvt. Ltd and Sikkim Government.
TEMI Tea Resort in Sikkim to target upscale leisure travellers from all over the world
The TEMI resort will be open with a 12 room property on June 2019 in addition to an in-house casino in a sprawling 376 hectares garden. Mr Arijit Dutta, MD, Priya Entertainments Pvt. Ltd while announcing the launch of the TEMI tea resort said: “Priya Entertainments becomes an exclusive tea tourism player in the state of Sikkim with this project. This is the first public private partnership model between the Government of Sikkim with any non – Sikkimese stakeholder. Tents will come up within the premises.”
The Temi Tea Garden lies between Damthang and Temi Bazar towards Singtam.
The Burra Bunglow which is housed inside the gardens will be restored by Priya Entertainments and thrown open to visitors in a revamped look. The restored Burra Bunglow will have 4-5 rooms and additional cottages for travellers.
“TEMI Tea Resort will target the upscale leisure travellers,” Mr Dutta, said while responding to a question from Blackboard. Priya Entertainments is making a foray into the hospitality sector with its third property – TEMI Resort. It already owns the Khairabera Resort in Purulia and the Priya Villa in Shantiniketan.
The TEMI Tea Resort will have unbeatable attractions such as glimpse of Mount Kanchenjunga, cherish an unique Cherry Blossom season (October and November), Namchi (which is 20 kms away from the gardens) and Hot Water Springs. Adventure lovers would love to try their hands on Paragliding, quad biking, motor biking and cycling.
Ms. Mrinalini Shrivastava, IPS, MD, TEMI Tea who was representing Sikkim Government at the launch of the project at Priya Cinemas said: “Sikkim has been promoting tourism aggressively since 2010. We hope this partnership with Priya Entertainments would go beyond tea tourism. By 2019, we want to see agro sector and tourism coming together.
