You can’t judge a restaurant by the race of it’s owners. Good restaurants make us think better of ourselves. They create a mood and then, by granting us a seat, enculturate us into it. Fuji restaurant, on Kolkata’s Sarat Bose Road is one of a kind. It has all the hallmark of a Japanese dining space. The waitress there are all dressed up in kimonos with warm smiling faces, giving the feeling of a traditional Japanese welcoming environment.

Being a novice on Japanese cuisine, I relied on my companions from Blackboard on choosing the course of the meal. I had Vegetarian California Roll to start of with, followed by Prawn Tempura Roll (Kolkata maki). Once i finished these two delicacies, we went for Yasai Yakisoba and Tori Yaki Meshi. At the end, we had Tori No Teriyaki.

The restaurant has both low and chair table seating arrangements. For those who prefer to have a feel of authentic and traditional Japanese culture, can opt for the low seating tables. I have to admit–it was much better than I had expected. Japanese cuisine is very unique to try. I was really agog when I was given chopsticks to eat with because I had never used them before. One of the waitress there taught me how to use it, which made the process of eating way easier.
